Fast-rising Southern rock artist, Bari Leigh, kicks off her Summer “Unchained” Tour continuing, heading to 40 east coast cities in support of her debut album, Tonight, I’m Unchained. Having written, recorded, co-produced and released the album on her own label, Starfish Music, Leigh has grabbed the attention of CBS’s Entertainment Tonight, who calls her a “buzzworthy artist” who is “set to explode with her infectious mix of pop, country, blues and soul.”
Growing up in Darnestown, Maryland, listening to iconic female singers like Dolly Parton, Etta James, and Bobbie Gentry, Bari Leigh developed her own unique sound that displays both a toughness and sweetness that critics have noted sets Leigh apart not only as an artist but as a person. Taking charge of her music career, Leigh established her own record label, Starfish Music, in her early 20s, and teamed up with musician/singer-songwriter/producer/label owner, Blake Morgan of ECR Music Group, who mixed and mastered her album. With Morgan helping to steer her progress, Leigh wrote and recorded Tonight, I’m Unchained over a two-year period, producing a body of work that The Examiner called, “a blend of sassy country and pop with notes of blues” that is “addicting.” For the Country Record described her album as “a concoction of neo-traditional country, southern rock, Americana and alt-pop,” and proclaims, “It’s an identity that pushes her way beyond the feminist messages of Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood and other such mainstream stars, and sets her way apart from any of her contemporaries.” Nashville Lifestyles Magazine raves that Leigh, “has the attitude and vocal strength like many other female country performers, but it’s Leigh’s songwriting that separates her from a typical artist.”
